Okay, thank you for your contribution to the firmware. It is mainly used to communicate directly with the fleet when going out for fun, but also wants to listen to the local relay. In this case, I have to bring two handheld walkie-talkies with me.VK3KYY wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 1:18 amIf you need to listen on multiple frequencies, make channels for those frequencies and then add them to a zone and then scan that zone.BH6AZQ wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 1:14 amWell, thank you very much for your answers, but I have two relatives here that are constantly manual switching of simulation and DMR. Even if they are fake, they will greatly reduce the number of operations.VK3KYY wrote: ↑Sat Dec 09, 2023 5:34 am
As has been stated many times, this radio (UV380 or DM1701 and all variants of these) only have 1 transceiver chip.
Hence the hardware can't support "dual transmitting" or true "dual monitoring"
Additionally the transceiver chip (AT1846S) is a very low performance device, that only costs $1 and can't change frequencies very quicky.
i.e even if some functionality was added which appeared to be Dual Watch it would simply be scanning 2 channels constantly, and the only difference would be the user interface display

Re: New Beta 2023 12 08
Good afternoon, how do I change the language on the radio? Grateful.
Re: New Beta 2023 12 08
You should select the additional language when you upload the firmware to the radio.
There is a Language menu in the firmware loader.
In the past had the firmware several languages inside the binary but due to limited space in the flash memory has this been changed.

I have outdated cps, which is why the language option does not appear. Thanks.SA0BUX wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 6:42 pmYou should select the additional language when you upload the firmware to the radio.

Before this goes totally of the rails I want to point out the following,BH6AZQ wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 10:00 amOkay, thank you for your contribution to the firmware. What you call / believe to be dual watch on the original firmware of these radios is actually just scanning of two frequencies / channels. It may display as dual watch but that is not what is factually happening. The radio is merely scanning between the two displayed items.
What Roger is pointing out to you is that the radio is capable of doing that EXCEPT instead of static display of the two items, you have a Zone of the two items you desire to 'dual watch' (call the Zone Dual Watch if you want) and then you start scanning. Instead of displaying a static screen you will see scanning of the two items in the zone. Physically the radio is doing EXACTLY what it did with the original firmware Except for how the display looks.
If how the display looks different while scanning two frequencies / channels from before means you need another radio, I am sorry as I do not understand, but it is your radio(s) and your method of usage, so please feel free to use two radios if you so desire. The radio / firmware combo has NOT lost any functionality, it just looks different.
Re: New Beta 2023 12 08
I just updated from 1701 to 1801 and my radio doesn't seem to turn on (or do anything else). The screen remains black.
The only thing I seem to be able to do is to put it into firmware loading mode (Orange + PTT when turning it on) and re-install 1701. It is then usable again.

Hi,
This numbers are meaningless, what is 1801/1701 here ? Give more details.
Cheers.

What do you mean 1801 ??W6DUX wrote: ↑Tue Dec 12, 2023 3:37 amI just updated from 1701 to 1801 and my radio doesn't seem to turn on (or do anything else). The screen remains black.

Edit. Both Daneil and I seem to have posted simultaenously
Re: New Beta 2023 12 08
I'm not 100% sure. When I downloaded the beta, it saved as "OpenDM1801.zip," so I figured it was a version number. I just re-downloaded it, and it was "OpenDM1701.zip" again, and this time it flashed fine.
Sorry for the noise.

Re: New Beta 2023 12 08
DM1701 and DM1801 are radio models.
There is no version information in the filenames.
So, for sure, if you flashed a DM1701 with a firmware compiled for the DM1801, it won't boot .
Cheers.
