10W UV380/UV390 PLUS - WORK IN PROGRESS

Thanks for the file.
Re: 10W UV380/UV390 PLUS VERSIONS NOT CURRENTLY SUPPORTED
Can someone tell me who on the forum owns a 10W UV380/390 PLUS, which currently won't work with the firmware ?
I think someone posted that they own one, but I can't find who that is.
I know someone posted that his friend had a 10W radio, but that 'friend' is not directly on the forum.

I have uv390 plus 10w and it does not work correctly. I have submitted my registers above.
Re: 10W UV380/UV390 PLUS VERSIONS NOT CURRENTLY SUPPORTED
OK.
Thanks.
Can you describe the details of the problem again. e.g. I think someone said that the screen is not visible until they press PTT, is this the problem on your radio, and if so, does the radio actually transmit, and does the problem happen on both VHF and UHF ?
Or perhaps the problem is completely different, as I've seen reports of completely white screens.
i.e If the screen turns on when you press PTT, this would probably indicate that the signal that previously powered one of the PA stages is now connected to the backlight, but in which case the PA won't also be turning on, unless perhaps the backlight signal and also PA control signal have been swapped over.
The radio has separate PA control signals for VHF and UHF, hence why I asked about whether the screen turns on when transmit on either band, as this may indicate some other change i.e something like the microphone power and backlight signals have been swapped over etc etc
EDIT.
BTW. To test the TX, you would need to measure the power, or perhaps call a repeater that was a few miles away, because even with the PA turned off the TRx chip generates around 25mW, which radiates out though the case of the radio; so that just listening to the transmission using another radio in your shack, does not show the PA is working.
Re: 10W UV380/UV390 PLUS VERSIONS NOT CURRENTLY SUPPORTED
When I first turn it on the screen is black. I push the PTT and it comes on.
If I put in analog channels it can recieve them fine.
However when I transmit the screen goes black and no transmissions occur.
DMR works fine though.

Re: 10W UV380/UV390 PLUS VERSIONS NOT CURRENTLY SUPPORTED
I'm still a bit confused about what works.
So turning on, initially the screen is black, but if you press PTT the screen comes on and stays on ?
But when you press PTT on FM the screen goes black and it doesnt transmit ?? What happens when you release the PTT, does the screen come back on ?
Definitely sounds like some connections got swapped over in this version of the radio
Can you do a table of what works and what doesnt work.
------ |FM VHF| DMR VHF | FM UHF | DMR UHF
Tx
Rx
etc
Basically any combinations that seem to work differently
i.e there are control signals or Rx_VHF, Rx_UHF, Tx_VHF, Tx_UHF, LCD_backlight
Its a bit strange that DMR is working when FM doesn't becasue I don't think we power down the DMR chip when in FM mode, so I don't think the DMR chip (C6000) PWR_STANDBY signal would be turning on and off and effecting the display by it being swapped with the LCD_backlight signal

Black on power on. PTT turns screen on. Stays on as long as long as I am only using digital transmit or receive.
If I recieve on analog it stays on.
If I transmit on analog screen goes black and no transmit happens at all.
At that point I can sometimes turn the middle knob on top to move to digital and it comes back on. Other times I must turn the radio off and back on then PTT to get screen back.
That is as clear as I know how to make it.
Re: 10W UV380/UV390 PLUS VERSIONS NOT CURRENTLY SUPPORTED
So if the radio starts in DMR mode then everything works OK ?KQ4MDM wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2024 3:46 amVK3KYY wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2024 1:28 amI'm still a bit confused about what works.

I'll need to check the code related to whether the C6000 DMR chip Power/Sandby signal is turned off during FM (analog) operation
Edit.
No. The DMR C6000 Power signal is on all the time, so that signal has not been swapped with the backlight signal.
Ummm. Not sure why the backlight and FM operation seems to be linked together on this new hardware version
