TYT MD-UV390 Plus

Tried flashing my UV390, now getting a black display, used MD9600-CSV(2571V5)-V26.45.bin as the donor file and OpenMDUV380.bin for firmware.I did the install exactly based on the OpenGD77 instructions. I've been searching quite a bit for this type of problem but haven't found anything yet.
I have also tried flashing back to different iterations of the UV390 firmware, same results, black display. I can get the radio into DFU mode. After trying to restore to various firmware (RT3S(CSV)-V19.26.bin - MD-UV390(GPS-REC)-S18.16.bin - RT3S(CSV)-v18.11.bin) I am getting the same black display.
After flashing and restarting to OpenGD77 I hear CW tones.
After flashing and restarting to the other various firmware I hear a start tone.
None of the keypad buttons seem to do anything.
My radio is new, SN2401BO1054, I am fairly inexperienced with DMR, I have setup and configured my Pi-Star hotspot and was able to get a basic codeplug configured which worked fine with the stock firmware.
I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Many thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Possibly this is the same problem as the new UV380 Plus 10W radios.

You could try the experimental 10W Plus version

See this post

BTW. Is your radio 5W or 10W ??

It is 5 watts, but I’ll try the experimental 10 watt and post back.

BTW, could you get the secure registers (use the CPS, Extras->OpenGD77 support), zip it and post it here (or email me the file).

Cheers.

And just like that the experimental works, and it works because I didn't pay attention to the small detail that this is in fact a 10 Watt and not a 5. Thanks for your help with this, I have emailed the Secure Register file to you.

Ok. 10W explains things.

These radios have different PCBs

Do you have have a power meter ?

If so, can you go into the power calibration on the radio and for 145.5Mhz and also 430 or 440MHz

Set the 250mW,1W,2W and 4W values, except in your case the 2W and 4W settings should be 5W and 10W

and press SK2 + Green (bottom button on left of radio + Green) to save the values. Note, you can always restore to the factor calibration at a later date, but the factory power calibration on these radios is frankly terrible and I'm not convinced they actually calibrate the power for the Ham bands at all.

Then write down the Adjust values for those power settings

Then using the 1W calibration point, change the Adjust value to see what is needed for 500mW and 750mW, and also 2W and 3W, and note down those Adjust values, before setting the 1W Adjust back to the value required for 1W

If you can then post the Adjust values for the entire range, i.e

250mW, 500mW, 750mW, 1W, 2W,3W, 5W and 10W for both 145.5 and 430Mhz and 440Mhz (or 450MHz), it would be useful in order to build the coeffiencts needed for these radios, because at the moment I only have one dataset for a 10W radio, from VK5DET and I need an average of values

Thanks

Roger

Don’t have a power meter but I’ll see if the local club may have one kicking around, if not I will pick one up.
