DM-1701 Help please

Post by 2D0PEY » Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:40 pm

Hello,

I have the above radio, and am trying to comnnect it to my laptop (Windows 10) to OpenGD77 CPS.

Regardless of the driver that I try and use I cant get it to be anything other than a "Digital Radio in USB Mode" which doesnt looks like itl work as the above CPS is expetecting to see a com port.

I have an DR-1801 that works just fine, and I have used various cables with the 1701 to no avail.

Can anyone assist please?

Gavin (2D0PEY).

Install the windows 10 drivers from downloads/drivers/Dfuse_3.0.6_drivers.zip

You may need to go into device manager and delete the other drivers.

When you start radio in DFU mode
TYT MD-UV380 | Retevis RT-3S | Baofeng DM-1701 | Retevis RT-84
Hold the top 2 buttons on the side of the radio (S1 and PTT) and turn the radio on.
You should get this in the Device Manager:

The Dfuse 3.06 drivers (showing the radio in DFU mode) are correct for firmware updates and for using the original CPS for most radios covered by OpenGD77.

Once you install OpenGD77 on the radio, communication is via a USB UART except for firmware updates.

Hello,

I ripped everything out and started again, and made sure that I did exactly that.

All is now working as it should.

Thank you for the guidance.

Gavin.
