Baofeng DM-1701: diagram of the 2 speaker-mic pin

Post by i7igx » Wed Mar 27, 2024 3:21 pm

Hi All,
I bought a DM-1701 from less a month with an external "Shoulder Speaker Mic". Still before I modified this radio to opengd77 firmware, neither PTT and loudspeaker were working.
On the specification of the "Shoulder Speaker Mic" is written:
Compatible Model:
Baofeng GT-3 / BF-888S / UV-5R Plus / UV-5R / UV-5R Plus Qualette
UV-5R E Plus / UV-5R B / UV-B5 / UV-82 / UV-82L

Then,there isn't the Baofeng DM-1701.
Does anyone know the right diagram of the 2 pin connector of the DM-1701 ?

DM-1701 should work with a "Kenwood" K type speaker microphone.
But I haven't verified it on my DM-1701.

I'm afraid the "k" connector is that of my bought "Shoulder Speaker Mic", same diagram of pin connections!

Even if the Radioddity microphone is compatible with:

BaoFeng
UV-5X, UV-5RX3, UV-5R EX, RD-5R, DM-5R, DM-1701. DM-1702, DM-1801, DM-1802, UV-5R/UV-5RTP(All models), UV6R, GT-1, GT-3/GT-3TP, GT-5/GT-5TP, BF-F8HP, BF-F8+, BF-F9+TP, BF-888S, UV-82, UV-82L, UV-82HP

and

Kenwood

Can't test with my speaker-mic until next week, I know it works with Anytone 878UV+ and Retevis RT3S, can't remember I tried on the DM-1701/RT84.

Many thanks, SA0BUX.

I tested the wiring connection from the "K" connector and the internal pins of my "Shoulder Speaker Mic", and all was ok.

If your "K" microphone would work with your DM-1701, I will do confirm that my DM-1701 is wrong ... even if the own programmable cable works fine.

Have tested my Retevis RS-111 speaker microphone https://www.amazon.co.uk/Retevis-Should ... ast_sto_dp together with the DM-1701 and it worked fine.

And then, because your "Retevis RS111" has the "k" connector, I should think my DM-1701 has something wrong ...
... even if, as I wrote, I can use the "OpenGD77 CPS" program very well with it.
Many thanks SA0BUX

Is it something working with the mike?
Speaker?
PTT button?
What happens if you press PTT on the radio and speak into the mike?

As I wrote at the begin, still before I modified this radio to opengd77 firmware, neither PTT and loudspeaker were working.

When I plug my "Shoulder Speaker Mic" into the DM 1701, no sound comes from the speaker, even if I insert an external load speaker into it, if you press PTT, the radio doesn't go on air.

But programming the radio works ?, if we compare the programming interface with the Kenwood pinout we see three additional connections that is
needed for PTT,Speaker and Microphone.
