DM-1701 issue with internal microphone

Post by oh4ms » Mon Apr 22, 2024 6:50 am

Received DM-1701 , but internal microphone is totally silent when TX. Lucky I had monophone that suits and gave positive result audio when TX. So, do you have any same kind of experience issue and resolve the problem of case ? All advice is welcome... tnx

Most probably it's the MIC/SP connector , bad soldering to the PCB or it's broke.
My first DMR which was a Retevis RT-84 ( same PCB inside as DM-1701 ) had the same problem but I sent it back to the seller that replaced it.
I could program it with the programming cable but no sound on TX with internal microphone.

Hey ! Possibly you are right. I can fix the fault you described myself. This radio is brand new, but I noticed the problem only after the firmware update to OpenGd... so I assume that the seller is not eager to take responsibility for a technical problem...

Please be careful when plugin in your cable to the talkie. It must be OFF, there are several reports about the internal mic going down definitely after plugging the usb cable to the computer with the radio On, so please: talkie always off when connecting cables.

To everyone whose microphone at the DM-1701 station has stopped working.
I bought a new radio station at an attractive price. The radio was in good working order and worked flawlessly.
After repeatedly using an external microphone and a USB cable to connect to a computer, the internal microphone stopped working. Having disassembled the radio station I found:
1. A jumper on the connector for connecting an external microphone that blocked the disconnection of the internal microphone. That is, when the external microphone was turned on, the internal microphone was still connected in parallel to the external one. But I'm not sure that this could be the cause of the malfunction.
2. I conducted experiments using the OpenGD77 firmware and repeatedly connected a USB cable to a working radio station. This could probably lead to a malfunction.

I replaced the internal microphone and removed the jumper from the external microphone connector.
I don’t know what exactly led to this situation, but now I don’t make connections to a working radio station and so far everything is working as normal.
