Updated CPS Localisation files

Post by VK3KYY » Thu Oct 31, 2024 1:32 am

The CPS localisation files have also been updated, because of the addition line of text that has been added.
Speficially

This line

Code: Select all

<Control Id="lblOverrideTxDMRId" Text="Override Tx DMR ID" />

See

Hi Fabio,

Are you sure about the translation (as in your update it means "Ignore Tx DMR ID". Isn't "Sostituisci Tx DMR ID" or something like that most accurate ?).

Hi Daniel,
I'm sorry for the trouble.
Honestly the first translation I thought is really "Sostituisci Tx DMR ID", but if I haven't understood it bad, in the CPS settings Tx DMR ID can override the "global" ID with another one for every single channel in case people have multiple DMR ID's and have specific reasons to use different DMR IDs on different channels instead of using the "global" one.
So the meaning of the translation "Ignora Tx DMR ID" must be understood as ignore the "global" Tx DMR ID by replacing it with a different one.
In italian language, another possible translation could be "Scavalca Tx DMR ID" which also gives the meaning of dismissal/deposition of the "global" Tx DMR ID in order to replace it with a new one.
Also "Sostituisci Tx DMR ID" that you propose, is correct, but in my opinion it could be understood like to change the pre -existing "global" Tx DMR ID by replacing it with another different Tx DMR ID, as if the RTX was given or operated by third parties, which is also a function available in the OpenGD77 firmware which can be invoked directly by the transceiver:

https://github.com/LibreDMR/OpenGD77_Us ... mber-entry
Station DMR ID number entry

In Contact selection mode, press SK2 + Hash (#) key, and an alternative DMR ID can be entered for the radio (for test purposes) to temporarily override your normal DMR ID number which was loaded from the codeplug.

I believe that the translation "Ignora Tx DMR ID" can be fine, perhaps "Scavalca Tx DMR ID" even better and a bit less equivocal, but I believe that each of the two translations has a certain degree of uncertainty that doesn't allow to prefer one rather than the other.
The matter would be a little different if the function label was something similar to "Override global Tx DMR ID" or something like that, because a possible translation into Italian would be a lot less ambiguous.
This is what I can write about it, considering that I'm not a professional translator and even my English unfortunately is not "Oxford level".

Daniel, many thanks for the message and the commitment you are putting in the development of the OpenGD77 firmware!

Thanks for the update.
I had to make some changes by hand, maybe you didn't use the file from the latest version, or some changes wasn't released yet, IDK.

Cheers.
