DMR Signal Decoding Issue?

I don't know if this is HW or OpenGD77 related but I've always had issues on my 1701 where the DMR audio doesn't always work. This happens with both my hotspot and local repeaters. I can see the signal on the RSSI meter but either no audio comes out or I get distorted (digital) sounds. Changing the channel and coming right back typically fixes it. I've also tried changing the DMR CRC setting, but it appears to have no impact. From testing with my hotspot, packet loss is not correlated. It happens on transmissions with 0% loss.

I recently purchased an Anytone 578 and when I run the two side by side and I'm just monitoring it appears the Anytone never has this issue and successfully receives and decodes the DMR signal. I've also noticed that the Anytone speaker kicks on faster and the DMR ID is displayed sooner, typically up to 2 seconds sooner though usually <1 second, when receiving a DMR signal. So now I wonder if it is an OpenGD77 configuration issue with my DM-1701. I have no other OpenGD77 radios to test with.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what parameters I may want to mess with to improve DMR decoding on my 1701?

Some more info:

I have two DMR masters set up on my WPSD pi-star hotspot because there isn't much activity on the BM local TGs up here. I have BM and a DMR+ configured. I'm typically on DMR+ so I'm watching to see if it occurs at the same rate on both BM and DMR+. Luckily BM TG 3129973 is very active every morning 7 am - 9 am Eastern for easy testing. So far this morning it's been pretty stable.

You don't even run the latest stable version.
I would suggest you to update first (latest stable or latest beta).

That's fair. I just updated it to 20240511140923 and will monitor. I'll have to go read the release notes now so I know what's new in the firmware.

Edit: I just realized that's a beta. I'll go back to 20231231 if I have problems still.
