Talkgroups & Private Call Function
Talkgroups & Private Call Function
I am trying to setup my DM-1701 radios to be used on a standalone mixed mode repeater (no BM or other network connection) .
I want to have few talkgroups but also have the ability to have private calls.
The OpenGD77 approach of having talkgroup lists on a single channel works fine for isolating the talk groups (as long as I have the radio DMR filter set to TG) but I cannot seem to get a private call to work when the DMR filter is set to TG?
Is there a way to allow private calls to interrupt the current talkgroup while the DMR-Filter is set to TG ?

Re: Talkgroups & Private Call Function
Private calls Rx is turned On by default, but you can disable receiving Private calls.W5DMH wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 10:25 amI am trying to setup my DM-1701 radios to be used on a standalone mixed mode repeater (no BM or other network connection) .

However....
What you seem to be complaining about is a network problem, where the network continues to send your hotspot the TG traffic rather than the PC traffic.
Try posting to a Brandmeister forum, to see if there is any way to configure this...
However I've not noticed anything in the BM Self-care portal related to this
Re: Talkgroups & Private Call Function
No it is not a network issue as I am not connected to any networks .
I WANT to receive private calls as a priority when in a talkgroup...

I think you don't know how it works.W5DMH wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 11:42 amNo it is not a network issue as I am not connected to any networks .

The firmware has no impact on this. DMR in duplex mode can only handle two transmission at the same time (TS1 and TS2).
e.g If you currently receiving a TG on TS2, and someone tries to call you in PC on the same timeslot, you're doomed, you CAN'T receive it. Period.
Re: Talkgroups & Private Call Function
Clearly I am not explaining myself correctly, however I did revert back to the original firmware and it allows private call interrupting the current talkgroup and solves the issue.
Re: Talkgroups & Private Call Function
You don't say whether you are like listening to a repeater or to a simple frequency
If it's a simplex frequency what you may be describing is a Dual Channel Direct transmission.
We don't / can't support DCDM because there is no documentation for the DMR DSP about how to configure it into this mode
If you are receiving from a duplex repeater, then you are describing a feature we didn't know existed in the official firmware, hence we didn't implement that functionality

Re: Talkgroups & Private Call Function
I don't think it is anything to do with DCDM.
The OP said he was trying to use a stand alone repeater. That would be capable of repeating talk groups or private calls between local users.
It is not clear to me exactly what the OP means by private calls interrupting a talkgroup. I think there is some terminology confusion going on here.
Private calls are generally frowned upon anyway on most amateur repeaters. People with conventional DMR radios will just find the repeater is busy without hearing any activity and this can cause confusion.

Re: Talkgroups & Private Call Function
I just re-read the first post, he says he is using a "standalone mixed mode repeater", with no network connection
This is quite ambiguous, but the minimum hardware sounds like it would be a duplex MMDVM_HS hotspot, and probably more likely to be a full digital repeater
In which case the only scenario I can see which matches the description is that TG's are being passed on one TS and the PC is on the other TS.
This doesn't sound at all like Ham radio use of the firmware at all
