Firmware installation instructions
Firmware installation instructions
Follow the TYT MD UV380 / Retevis RT-3S instructions
viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2380
Except select DM-1701/ RT-84 as the radio and use the DM-1701 firmware.
Note. At the moment becuase the DM-1701 and RT-84 share the same internal hardware the same firmware file is used on both DM-1701 and RT-84
However the plastic case of the DM-1701 and RT-84 have slightly different aperatures for the LCD display, so that on the DM-1701 the top 4 pixels of the display are obscured. So in the longer term there may need to be different firmware versions so that the DM-1701 uses less of the screen height, and will have one less menu item displayed.
Official 'donor' firmware is the same as the UV380

The install description in the link specifies the old path.
Re: Firmware installation instructions
OK. I only posted the link for the instructions, I forgot now that the combined firmware is in a different locationSA0BUX wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2023 7:08 amNote that the path to latest firmware now is downloads/MDUV380_DM1701/Firmware/LatestVK3KYY wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 9:57 pmFollow the TYT MD UV380 / Retevis RT-3S instructions

Re: Firmware installation instructions
As a 'donor', use the same official MD9600 V5 firmware as for retevis rt3s?
Re: Firmware installation instructions
The same donor file is used for all STM32 based radios.
Re: Firmware installation instructions
Donor software download https://www.passion-radio.com/index.php ... chment=760
Extract and use file MD9600-CSV(2571V5)-V26.45.bin as donor software in CPS Firmware Loader.

Re: Firmware installation instructions
Hello, got last rt84 from Retevis yesterday - installed, works as expected with no problem. Some findings:
- as it has the same chip like rt3s, md380 - scan speed is much slower than on gd77/baofeng 1801
- the RX signal recieve is almost or maybe the same like baofeng 1801, good point
- more robust, heavier and bigger than rt3s or baofeng 1801
so in general it's mixture of rt3s and baofeng 1801 with some advantages and disadvantages, the biggest for me is still scan speed.
Thank you for your work
