read or write to phone, twice selecting the com port
read or write to phone, twice selecting the com port
Although everything works as expected, while reading or writing to the handheld, I always have to select twice the usb-com port in the program, before I can start. Am I the only one or is this normal behavior of the current (latest) version of the software? It would be nice if I only had to select the com-port once. Using windows 10 (up to date). Maybe an future improvement

I don't see anything related to COM ports in the OpenGD77 CPS.
Re: read or write to phone, twice selecting the com port
It appears on com port failure.

See

If you are using Windows 10, and the Com port for the radio is not named, OpenGD77 (COMXXXXX), you should use the windows device manager to un-install the USB Serial device driver for that Com port and reinstall the OpenGD77CPS and select the option to install the Serial driver (this is the default option)
Note. Windows 10 sometimes installs multiple USB drivers one on top of another, so after you uninstall the USB driver on that com port, disconnect and reconnect the radio and confirm that Windows does not still have the com port installed.
Windows 10 should not normally try to reinstall the driver.
However if it does keep immediatly reinstalling the driver. Try turning the radio off, uninstall the driver then install the CPS.
Also Note. Windows installs the driver to each USB socket separately, so even if you uninstall on one socket it may still be installed on the others, so you may need to plug the radio into each socket and uninstall form each, before the driver is fully uninstalled

Re: read or write to phone, twice selecting the com port
In my opinion it has nothing to do with my computer (very sure)
Start reading or writing:
Select com port -> com9, ok
Again the select com port box pops-up -> select again com9, ok
Then it reads/writes my boafeng successful
So I see the popup box twice before any action is being executed. Weird
Software used: OpenGD77 CPS (version: R2023.06.25.01)

Never seen that , and I have used the OpenGD77 CPS on at least 4 different computers (win 7 & 10 ) and with MD-9600,RT3S,DM-1701 radios.on3nl wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 6:59 pmIn my opinion it has nothing to do with my computer (very sure)

But the original CPS from Retevis/TYT/Baofeng was always troublesome and I tried several versions of the STM32 DFU drivers and replaced the old DLLs used by the CPS with newer ones as the CPS crashed when tried to access the radios.
Re: read or write to phone, twice selecting the com port
You are not using the latest version of the CPS, albeit there have been no changes to the com port functionalityon3nl wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 6:59 pmIn my opinion it has nothing to do with my computer (very sure)

I checked the number of downloads for the the CPS version you are using and its around 2500, and no one else reported this problem.
