1750hz tone duration on DM-1701
1750hz tone duration on DM-1701
Hi,
is there a way to extend the duration of the 1750hz tone to access our analogue relais?
Or Relais needs to receive the 1750hz tone longer (like 2sec) to open up.
If not I need to teach myself whistling at 1750hz
Thanks
Jörg

It should beep as long as you send the tone , the local monitor 1750 will stop but it should continue on TX.

Re: 1750hz tone duration on DM-1701
I tested the tone on my DM-1701 and MD-9600 today and the local beep in the speaker stops after around 3-4 seconds but it continues on the transmission.
It's almost continous on the transmission, you have a short repeating interruption on the tone.
Same interruption appear on continuous DTMF tone.
Maybe I will try a recording that I can post.
Re: 1750hz tone duration on DM-1701
The short clicks when sending very long tones are unavoidable as far as we know. The HRC6000 chip has a maximum tone duration. To send a longer tone we have to keep restarting it. Unfortunately the HRC6000 generates a phase shift when you do this and that is what you can hear.
Re: 1750hz tone duration on DM-1701
Hi,
thank you for your help. As you described , the tone stops on the 1701 speaker but continues on TX.
There must be another reason. My UVR5 opens the relais from the same location. The DM-1701 works fine with the DMR Relais. Either sth. wrong with my config or with the 1701. (Frequency not correct , power problem....)
I will try the 1701 closer to the relais.
Thanks

Re: 1750hz tone duration on DM-1701
Hi,
I tested the 1701 again yesterday.
Listening to the 1750 hz tone send out I heard what you mean. There are little interruptions every 1/2 sec or so.
Using my smartphone to generate 1750 hz I was capable to open the relais with the 1701. So config and Power seems OK.
Sunday I have another OM passing by at my place to flash OpenGD77 on his 1701. That gives me the chance to see if the original FW does any better.
I just have to see how to get to the 1750 hz tone in the original FW. I newer bothered withe the original FW.
Does anyone see room for improvement here?
How about a wave file with a 1750hz tone that is played when a certain key is pressed?
Thanks for all your help

Re: 1750hz tone duration on DM-1701
Colin
I didn't realise we are still using the C6000 for 1750 tone generation on the 1701 (and UV380) ?
If so this could be changed to use the AT1846S so that it would not have this problem.

Re: 1750hz tone duration on DM-1701
With all the changes for APRS I can't remember what is currently used.
There can't be many repeaters that still need 1750Hz and those that do wouldn't normally require a long tone so it is not something that most people would need. It should be possible to change it though.
Colin.

Re: 1750hz tone duration on DM-1701
AFAIK, most of the french repeaters are using 1750Hz
