I did notice the click, but did not have time to investigate what is causing it.SA0BUX wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 5:10 pmGPS works, and I got a fix inside at work so the radio is almost as sensitive as my late production RT3S that is much better than than the first RT3S I bought.
The clicks from the speaker when you use the keyboard with volume down is a bit annoying.
I changed the beep settings to a more silent mode not to annoy my colleagues.
Re: Alpha testers wanted for TYT MD2017 and Retevis RT-82
Yes.
GPS hardware in these radios seems to be the same as the UV380, but seems to have slightly better sensitivity than my 2 year old RT-3S
The Jumpstart branded GPS module does not seem to receive any Beidou satellites, but my RT3S does

Did anyone have any problems with the Menu button not working
I just received a report that one of my normal testers installed the firmware and he was not able to exit from the "Settings Updated" screen, becasue the Menu button does not seem to be functioning.
I don't know whether perhaps the radio has a hardware problem, but AFIK no one else reported a problem with the buttons.
The only bugs I currently know about are
1. Problem with terrible audio quality on a Non-GPS radio. This problem may not be related to whether the radio is Non-GPS.
Please let me know if you installed on a Non-GPS version
2. Speaker clicks
3. Loose battery connection caused radio to hang
4. Orange button does not seem to work perfectly for everyone. I received 1 report of the Orange button opening the Quick Menu but not closing it.
5. Problem of occasional speaker click when no DMR signal. This bug is not specific to the MD2017/RT-82, it also occurs on the DM1701 and may occur on the UV380
What has been reported to be working
1. DMR and FM Rx and Tx
2. Satellite mode
3. APRS
4. Hotspot mode
5. GPS. Sensitivity seems to be the same or slightly better than older UV380/RT-3S radios.
Note. My GPS does not seem to detect Chinese Beidou satellites, but my RT-3S GPS does. Probably these radios contain and older GPS.
Edit
I just tested the official firmware and I get the same speaker click, so I don't think this is a bug in the OpenGD77 firmware

Re: Alpha testers wanted for TYT MD2017 and Retevis RT-82
Greetings, as I told you, I have the Vetomile which is the same as the TYT 2017 and the RT 82, well I did the installation without any problem, everything works well, the walkie has another life that is nothing like the previous one, the only thing What fails and I have to investigate a little more is in Hotspot mode, it makes the connection and in a matter of a second it disconnects from the pi-star.
Thank you for all the work you are doing and we will continue investigating possibilities.

I noticed USB disconnection if I manually transmitted
Did you use an external antenna and if so you could try adding some RF choke to the USB cable.
I think someone else told me that Hotspot worked for them, but I would need to check who told me this
Edit. See above... Hotspot is reported to work

Re: Alpha testers wanted for TYT MD2017 and Retevis RT-82
FYI
Tomorrow or possibly on Friday I will make the firmware file publically downloadable, becasue there are now more testers than I can manage via email correspondence.
I will also need to write a post with the installation instructions etc
