I used the Alpha 2.2 version Firmware on a MD-780(TYT MD 2017 Chinese Version,no GPS module avaliable)。
The firmware works well,I succesfully make a QSO by ARISS.
The trackball does not worked very well both in High and Low modes.(Up or down needs two or three times movement.)
More test is needed.
Thanks for your work on OpenGD77.
Trackball is often defective in these radios.

Many people prefer to use the side buttons and P1 / P2 instead

Because the trackball is so unreliable, we disable it's use by default, and the user must enable it in the Options

I have a local 70cm repeater set up with CTCSS (RX/TX), and every few seconds, you can hear a crackle from the speaker, as if the noise squelch is opening.

This is not a problem on FM, the speaker seems to intermittently enable , even on DMR, and at the moment we don't know why this is happening.

Ok. But on the simplex FM channels I have not noticed this. I have silence all the time.

On MD-780(MD2017 without GPS),the radio time will stop when power off.Is the built-in RTC not work?

The firmware does use the RTC.

However if the RTC battery is defective or not charged, the the RTC will not function

RTC battery is a separate small rechargable battery which is only charged when the radio is turned On.

When the radio is turned off the battery will become flat after appoximately 3 weeks.

Charging of the RTC battery is very slow. 24 hours is the normal time to fully charge the battery

I'v noticed that too, if the rssi bargraph is to be trusted, in my case it showed a temporary spike in signal strength.

Just updated to the aplpha 2.2 version and I cannot decrease the power.

Holding pressed P2 button increases the power to max, but there is no way to decrease it.

Manual says "SK2+Left" decreases and "SK2+Right" increases power. Which is Right and which is Left ?

Also, holding pressed the P1 button does nothing.

Read the initial post.

P1 = Left
P2 = Right

Don't hold down P1 or P2 when changing power. The functionality is designed to prevent accidental change in power caused by buttons being held in.
Holding P2 when on 5W has special functionality

See the USER GUIDE

But if you keep "P2" pressed at any power level it will go up to "+W+" (which is user defined power level).

This makes it confusing, since it should mean that keeping "P1" pressed should have the reverse effect.

Could not find an updated guide for MD2017, all I could find were the already supported models, where it says "SK1" and "SK2" which I tough that they were "P1" and "P2" respectively as it mapps easy in my brain.
