3d model of the GD77 battery enclosure
Re: 3d model of the GD77 battery enclosure
If you do that, I'd also KILL to see a 3D-printed battery enclosure that allows for removable 18650 cells. It would of course be thicker, but I'd be okay with that.

Great, that is a good start. 18650 cells are good, maybe someone can point me to another CAD-model for such a battery-case. I would try to merge both models. Maybe this is a good start.

There's a remix from June with battery:

- better battery - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4574051
I'll start in on an OpenSCAD version so we can do the GD77 and the DM-1801 (Which I have)
It will incorporate the 18650 batteries.
This is a pretty clever mod - charger with pi hotspot inside

I think that's the charger base which Daniel created
.
He already posted details of it, on here... Somewhere.

Re: 3d model of the GD77 battery enclosure
It took me quite some time but the Chinese were a bit slowly in sending the chips.
Image of my soldering; 8.4v with USB-C PD. You see the USB-C interface (9v out) and the charger (8.4v out).
If used with a modern USB-C charger it should output 8.4v as long as the charger understands PD (Power Delivery). A short summary about PD at Wikipediahere. PD is neccessary as the USB-C interface understands PD only.
I will test more chargers when available, but so far a

Re: 3d model of the GD77 battery enclosure
I just bought some GD77 battery eliminators from eBay, which I will modify to take alkaline cells
I think someone in China must be manufacturing TYT MD-760 battery eliminator, and the GD77 is a rebranded MD-760
