GD77S TG9 not heard

Post by KA5ZDA » Tue Apr 06, 2021 10:40 pm

I have loaded the latest firmware and software and voice file. However, TG9 announcements still do not come through. So, when I try to transmit to Audio Test or Disconnect, nothing is heard. Do you have any suggestions? Is anyone else having this issue? Thanks and 73!

What do you mean by "TG9 announcements" ??

TG9 is just a special TG on most systems which causes the transmission to not be linked across the network.

Depending on network, if you mean the Parrot system its on Private Call 9990 on Brandmeister and on TalkGroup 9990 on some DMR MARC systems.
Other networks and systems may use other TG's or PC IDs for the parrot system. Its not built into the radio

Using with an OpenSpot3 and this hotspot uses TG9 to voice announcements. So when TG9 is included in the codeplug and filter is set to none, it should allow for TG9 to come through no matter what contact is selected. However, it doesn't seem to be working regardless of which filter setting is selected. Maybe the replay on AudioTest is another issue? We just noticed that it and the Disconnect confirmation stopped working when the filter setting disappeared. Thanks!!

So with "DMR Filter" set to None (in the quick menu) you can't receive signals on TG9 ?
If the DMR Filter is set to None, which is the default, then the radio will receive all TGs on the selected TS and CC
Is your hotstop dual timeslot?

That's correct. Only the selected TG is heard. The OpenSpot 3 is not a dual timeslot hotspot. I really appreciate your help with this troubleshooting!

Did you test this with another DMR Radio or just your OpenSpot 3

By default, there is definiely no TG filterng. Its only enabled by the Quick Menu (Orange button), "DMR Filter" option, which should be set to None.

If this is set to TG, anything other than "None" it will filter depending on the setting.

Wondering if there is something wrong in the codeplug we have been using? I've been doing this to help out a blind ham friend of mine, KA5POW. I've attached it here if you have any suggestions. If worked fine for a while. But after the filter menu dropped out of the firmware, it stopped working and hasn't worked since.

Thanks and 73,

I noticed you have set a lot of your contacts to have an override to TS1 this includes TG9

All your DMR channels are set to TS1, so there is no need to set any of the TG's to override onto TS1 as the channel is alreadly set to TS1

The TS override is for repeaters or duplex hotspots, which carry different TG's on different TimeSlots, so that the radio will automatically change to the TS for that TG.

But in you case, I don't think your hotspot is duplex, so none of the contacts should set a TS override.

I don't know about the Audio Test on the OpenSpot. I can see you have Parrot defined correctly for Brandmeister at PC 9990 (except you don't need the TS 1 override).
I don't know if the OpenSpot used TG 9999 or PC 9999 for its test, or how that works.
