SSB... AM

Hi again, the holidays are over and during these days I have been working at HF.
I love HF ... but I've noticed that my shack doesn't have any decent VHF gear ... I mean I just have some radioditty, baofeng, or similar. No power equipment.
Some time ago I had an Icom 706mkiig and had the vhf and uhf covered with fm and ssb. including the aerial AM to receive some clueless plane over my territory.
The fact is that I want to put something that has SSB / AM and it occurred to me if the hardware of the radioditty would be able to demodulate AM ... probably not because I imagine that the circuitry is designed for FM, but it I ask here ...
Could it demodulate AM? Possibly, if the answer were "yes" it would be the most complicated part ... Could it be modulated in AM?
In short, that the holidays give many hours to think impossible things ...
Well, maybe I’ll get to work and stop dreaming.

No, the transceiver chip in the radio cannot operate on AM.
