What a good application for macOS to generate these 1-bit PNG images for the boot screen? I can also use Windows 11 apps, I have a Windows 10 VM now to run the OpenGD77 CPS.
Even when I attempt to make an image thats just black and white, its not a true 1-bit PNG image and seems to be using greyscale. I also tried "Paint 3D" that came with Windows 10 VM.

https://imagemagick.org/script/download.php) and both definitely do it.
I ink you may be able to use Irfanview do create/save 1-bit images as well.
