Sorry I just meant in practise - like from a documentation point of view. How is it operationally different ?
Menus are arranged differently, some are named slightly different. There are added shortcuts to the main menus. Added steps for certain feature like beep volume, since even the lowest by default is too loud. Different methods of enabling/disabling scan. As well as other minor things. Is it way different? Not really. Just minor UI changes and a few additions and changes to certain functions not found in the official firmware.

I'd say give it a try if you have 5 minutes of time. Some people prefer it, so I post it for them.

I hope to build on the 1801 at some point! I have to update and adjust code changes for other radios. The power levels coding is very adapted to the GD-77, and would require some tweaking for the 1801 and others. Maybe I can borrow my friends 1801 for testing.

I always use the "development" branch which has the latest and the greatest code on the experimental level. I will typically post about the stability of the firmware if it's not so stable. Which usually is never the case.

Thanks... I like the interface version you modified.

One question that I always wanted to know is which official OPENGD77 experimental build/date is used for the base of the changes.

I ask that because I got two radios. One GD-77 I keep to the latest experimental level that Roger releases. Any changes that are compiled and made available go immediately to that radio.

The other GD-77 I load the firmware you release. I would like to have an idea of which base code you used to release your modifications.

For instance, Roger released the Sept 12 as official release and started the Sept 13 experimental release. That has already four changes and the binary is available. That is the firmware on radio 1.

If I update the firmware you released to my radio 2, I will get the new interface, etc, but on top of which Roger's experimental level?

Thanks in advance.

Many thanks. One quick follow up if I may... If you release the firmware let us say on Sept 27, is that reasonable to assume you used Roger's base from Sept 24 or so? I am thinking on the time you would need to freeze Roger's code to be able to apply your changes and which (in average) would be the expected delay, assuming new changes show up on Roger's experimental code while you are changing the previous one. Thanks.

Hi Mike,

Thanks great work runs stable for several day now.
The only thing I miss is the double push orange button to start scan, which was in 1.60, not a big deal, but convenient in the dark as the orange is easier to find than green.

Typically if I release something on let's say the 27th, the code would be from the 27th or the day before if I ran into issues. Sometimes I have builds available before Roger releases them. So it's always pretty up to date.

Hello! Double pushing orange still enables and initiates scan. When you tap orange, is the scan menu the first shown? What language do you use?

Hello
Interesting not so here.
Updated to 1.74 Still all of my 3 GD-77 are not starting scan by double pushing the orange button.
First push orange lead to scan as first meue second push doesn't do anything.
Display is showing scan inverse with the black bar. Short push green then is starting scan (As long push green does too)
I'm using the default language, never canged it.
No voice promts either.

I see the issue now. It doesn't work properly on the memory channels but does on the VFO. I'll see what I can find.
