Re: Radioddity GD-77 Death Now alive again
Probably the copy protection data in your radio has been erased by the official firmware.
The only solution is to use a hardware dongle programmer connected directly to your radio PCB, to erase the CPU and then install a patched bootloader which does not check the copy protection data
Re: Radioddity GD-77 Death Now alive again
Hi, does anyone know how to get a hardware dongle programmer for a GD77 or make 1.
Thank you

Re: Radioddity GD-77 Death Now alive again
If want to erase and reflash the MCU, you'll need something like a JLink, or anything else that can flash a NXP / Freescale MK22FN512 device.
When you say "make 1" what do you mean. What is your level of MCU knowledge. i.e it is possible to "make" a programer dongle using a generic STM32F103 board, which you can buy for $5, but you have to flash that board using a USB to serial adaptor, with some legacy firmware from github and solder some wires to it
Re: Radioddity GD-77 Death Now alive again
Hi VK3KYY, Thank you coming back to me, no MCU knowledge. Looking up prices for JLink on amazon.ca
Re: Radioddity GD-77 Death Now alive again
Most of the JLink clones work OK.
e.g.
https://www.amazon.ca/GamlReid-Interfac ... B0C1N5XK6P
On Amazon.ca will actually be a clone.
Ones like this https://www.amazon.ca/J-Link-Debugger-D ... B0C1K31CN6 don't work because the Reset signal is not broken out to the connector.
The real JLink dongles cost well over $500
The cheapest fully official / legal version is the JLink Edu Mini. Which Adafruit sell

Re: Radioddity GD-77 Death Now alive again
Thanks, I get the one you posted, and I agree the real one about $500.
Thanks again.

FYI.
The cheapest fully official / legal version is the JLink Edu Mini. Which Adafruit sell

BTW.
The problem with the clones, is that JLink started to blacklist the serial numbers used in the cloned firmware, however if the clone you buy from Amazon doesn't work, you could send it back.
I have various clones and also the JLink Edu Mini
But, most of the time I actually use a JLink I made by modifying a $5 STM32 board, I bought from AliExpress
