Hello roger!

Thank you for your prompt reply !
A shielded cable with a ferrite choke brings no improvement.
Maybe you can test it yourself.

The problems are almost always caused by RF injection into the USB or the host computer system.

Many people have the hotspot working 100% of the time. I don't need to retest it.
roger,
for me and other OMs, the hotspot mode only works with an external antenna!

Hi,

I soldered a shielded cable:
shielded USB cable with ferrite (shielded GND -> gd77 side open)
Works with outdoor antenna UFB.
With the original antenna no TX after a few seconds !!!!
Same problem with original cable!
Transmit-power: 50mW

Connect your PiStar using ssh or the ssh in the expert menu, type type

dmesg > dmesg-output.txt

Then copy/transfert the dmesg-output.txt file using a USB thumb or the scp/winscp command.

Cheers.

Hi Daniel, hi Roger !
Tested with:

3 different GD77 devices
3 different original-antennas
3 different original program cables
1 self-soldered shielded and ferrit cable
TX-Power: 50mW

Same result !! :(

I checked your dmesg, and there is no problem about USB. Can you confirm me the problem occured before you created the dmesg file, and you didn't reboot the RPi meanwhile ?.
About the MMDVMHost log file, it looks incomplete, or MMDVMHost crashed:

Code: Select all

M: 2020-08-24 11:17:50.467 DMR Slot 2, received network voice header from OE7ABH to TG 232007
M: 2020-08-24 11:18:11.769 DMR Slot 2, received n
Did you tried to create another clean PiStar SD Card, just to be sure the current one isn't corrupted (that happens sometimes).

Cheers.

Hi Daniel,

I will reinstall pi-star on a different SD card and reproduce the state. Please wait.
I will post the result in a new "dmesg-output.txt" !

Merci

Hi Daniel, hi Roger !

First:
- Change my raspberry power supply (5V 2.5A)
- Hardware: Raspberry (2017) pi 3 model B + and raspberry (2014) pi model B + V1.2
- New SD card (16GB)
- Download Pi-Star V4.1.2
- Write the image to the SD card
- Config Pi-Star as GD77 hotspot (TX QRG 144.725Mhz)
- Pi-Star update
- reboot
- GD77 with original antenna
- GD77 with original programming cable
- GD77 TX-Power 50mW
- OpenGD77 firmware "Aug 18 2020"

Test:
I am sending with Anytone878 on a second dual hotspot on TS1 - TG232007 (TX time about 15-20 seconds)
My GD77 hotspot receives TG232007 and GD77 hotspot goes to TX and aborts the transmission after approx. 2-3 seconds
 pi-star "Tableau" continues to send
This can be reproduced at any time!
Test on two different GD77 handheld radios as GD77-Hotspot
Test with two different original programming cables
Test with self-soldered shielded ferrit programming cable (see post #10)
Test with two different original antennas

With an external antenna, it works UFB! No interruption of TX at the GD77 hotspot.

2 log files attached!
It confirms my first test from yesterday - GD77 hotspot with original antenna does not work !! (also with mini TX power 50mW)
