Flashing DM1701 through VirtualBox ok, but I can't mount USB port

Post by n3fih » Mon Aug 14, 2023 7:53 pm

I was able to successfully flash OpenGD77 to my DM1701, but the CPS doesn't see the same USB port, I guess.

When I try to mount the USB port "www.opengd77.com OpenDM1701 Transceiver", VBox gives an error
Failed to create a proxy device for the USB device. (Error: VERR_SHARING_VIOLATION).
Result Code:
NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0X80004005)
Component:
ConsoleWrap
Interface:
IConsole {6ac83d89-6ee7-4e33-8ae6-b257b2e81be8}

FWIW, the stock CPSDM1701 was able to communicate with the radio under VirtualBox.

Has anybody encountered this?

Surely this is a question to post to a VBox forum

The driver is just the generic USB one that comes with Window

Hi,

I'm using VirtualBox on Linux, and it works fine.
From the error name, it looks like a problem between the guest and VirtualBox.
Don't you have a software that already use the device ?
Also, have you installed the extension pack ?
If you're running Linux, are you part of the vboxusers group

Cheers.

Did you figure out your problem? I seem to have the same problem. I am running win10 on virtualbox hosted on ubuntu 22.04. I have CPS DM-1701 v1.05 installed and can loaded and upgrade code plugs when the original firmware is loaded on the DM-1701. I also have Open GD77 CPS installed and was able to install the Open77 firmware. But the GD77 CPS wants the radio connected to a com port in order to install a codeplug. My radio is seen as "AnyRoad Technology Digital Radio in USB Mode" on the Win10 virtual machine. How do I get it connected to a com port? After loading the Open77 firmware I had to reload the original firmware back with the DMR Firmware Downloader in order to use the radio.

You have the radio in DFU mode. This is only for firmware updates.
Just turn the radio on as normal without pressing and buttons and the OpenGD77 firmware boot as normal, and will appear as a USB CDCACM aka generic USB Serial device
