[Fixed: Loose speaker connection] No audio after FW upgrade
[Fixed: Loose speaker connection] No audio after FW upgrade
Hi All
I did a firmware upgrade from 3.2.2 to openGD77 25 Dec 2019 7314ed7. It worked well for about 24 hours and then it just had no audio, The mic is working and able to QSO with a separate receiver. I have rolled back to older versions of openGD77, and factory reset and loaded the default codeplug from the community CPS still no audio out. When booting up there is no delay as the audio plays the Merry Christmas jingle so i don't believe it is the audio circuit in the GD-77, so i think it could be either a firmware bug or a memory corruption.

Re: No audio after FW upgrade
Did you try responding the official Radioddity firmware
Btw. There are 2 paths for the audio. One is direct from the RF chip, and is used for FM, and the other path is via the audio DAC in the C6000 DMR DSP chip.
It’s strange it works for 24 hours and then failed. Did you try doing a reset by holding down the Blue button when turning the radio on ?

Re: No audio after FW upgrade
Hi Roger
Yeah that is why i though memory corruption or a damaged bit, byte of memory. I will try and roll bank to the stock firmware.

Re: No audio after FW upgrade
This is a slight chance that the problem is not actually related to the firmware.
i.e if you perform a full factory reset on the official firmware and reload the codeplug, that would put it back to exactly as it was before.

Re: No audio after FW upgrade
Hi Roger
Now it has gone into a factory reset loop, every time i restart it it says 'factory int' and when i try to put a code plug into it it requires a password even in CSP expert mode.

Re: No audio after FW upgrade
Hi Roger
Found it, it is a hardware issue with the speaker. The speaker cable has come off speaker just a soldering job. Thanks for the help sorry for mucking you around.
Cheers

Re: No audio after FW upgrade
phew that's a relief, well spotted, speaker mic required
Re: No audio after FW upgrade
Chris
Thanks for letting us know that it was a hardware fault.
I think you said you'd dropped the radio, which is why the speaker connection came loose.

Re: No audio after FW upgrade
When I disassembled one of my GD77s to clean between the LCD screen and the screen cover, one of the welds on the HP immediately broke.
(The cable is very thin and too short, I replaced it with a longer one ...)
