Unable to load DM-1801 Unstable Firmware with CPS Loader
Unable to load DM-1801 Unstable Firmware with CPS Loader
While the stable firmware will load successfully, the unstable 6/10/2020 and 6/11/2020 firmware will not load on my DM-1801. The dialog issues an error: "Wrong Model"... This is with 5/4/2020 stable firmware in the radio.
I can load it with the standalone firmware loader. Once the updated unstable firmware is in the radio, the CPS loader will load the unstable firmware again.
I have the correct cable in usage. During the failure the CPS firmware loader would load the stable firmware.
In reading and checking the radios' codeplugs, I noticed that on the "Basic Information" window, they both show "GD-77" as the "Model Name" for some reason, and I cannot update this on the dialog, and write it to the radio using CPS.
I'm not sure how this model number even got programmed into the radios. Is there a way to update this manually? Could this have caused the problem?

Ummm.
Very strange.
I will try to replicate

Re: Unable to load DM-1801 Unstable Firmware with CPS Loader
Both of my DM-1801 radios may have also experienced damage to their calibration.
A few months ago, I reported very low modulation on DMR and very noisy white noise under the voice. This remains the case with these radios.
Today, I restored the factory firmware, and they both still have the problem.
Perhaps I've written to EPROM one too many times on these radios?

Re: Unable to load DM-1801 Unstable Firmware with CPS Loader
The data is not in the EEPROM Calibration in the Flash.
Flash has a much lower rewrite limit, but its still at least 10,000 writes
The problem will be something else.
We don't change the calibration data used by the official firmware any more. As soon as I started to support the DM-1801 the calibration data gets copied to a different location, and the CPS uses that location

Re: Unable to load DM-1801 Unstable Firmware with CPS Loader
Please, someone post a copy of a working DM-1801 calibration page for UHF and VHF.
Both my radios have failed, so something in the calibration must be causing the problem.
The failure is occurring on both stock and OpenDM1801 firmware so I doubt it's in the firmware code itself.

The calibration data will be in your Flash backup.
I think at address 0x8F000
