Out of band frequencies via CPS
Out of band frequencies via CPS
Hi team,
I just got a GD77 and have been playing around with it in its analog mode with the openGD77 in the FM mode, as this is my first radio.
I wanted to see if I could hear the local PD in the 480 MHz range, which is above the factory band setting. I was able to change it in the radio and it seems to work fine. Once the code plug is downloaded via CPS, the Rx Freq would automatically change to 400 MHz and won't change to anything above 470 (if changed, it'll change to 400 automatically).
I saw that in an old post here that something like it would be possible. Am I missing something? Unlike the image in that post, "Basic Information" doesn't work in the CPS either with a "This feature is not supported in the OpenGD77 firmware" error.
I changed the radio's setting to Options>Band Limits>Off, but that doesn't seem to matter much for the CPS side of things.
I'm using the D20200507 firmware and the R2020.06.24.02 OpenGD77CPS.
Thanks so much!

Re: Out of band frequencies via CPS
It should be able to receive on that frequency without disabling band limits.
Make sure your Tx and Rx freq are set to the same frequency in the VFO, otherwise when you change the Rx or freq the firmware automatically change the Tx freq to maintain any offset between the Tx and Rx frequencies, and if this results in the Tx freq being out of range the radio will not change frequency at all
Disabling the band limits would allow the transceiver to transmit on that band, which I presume you don't want to do.

Re: Out of band frequencies via CPS
Thanks for the reply.
I think I have an issue with setting an out-of-band frequency via the CPS.
E.g. from this prompt, when I change either of the 400 Mhz (Rx or Tx) to 480 and click elsewhere, it reverts back to 400. Typing 480 then clicking on the ">>" doesn't do it either.
I was able to change the freq manually via the HT, but I was hoping the CPS would make that easier.
Thank you!

I suspect there is a problem with the CPS, as its based on the official CPS and it doesnt allow some out of band frequencies
Re: Out of band frequencies via CPS
Ah that's my bad. The pic should be viewable, but from this convo it does seem like it's a bug -- this is for R2020.06.24.02
Re: Out of band frequencies via CPS
Probably a bug in the CPS.
I'll check when I can. But don't hold your breath. I don't have much spare time at the moment for radio or anything else

Re: Out of band frequencies via CPS
Actually, I had a free 15 mins this evening.
I think I need to the CPS frequency limits to match the updated limits that the firmware supports.
I've made some changes the CPS but it needs some more testing...

Re: Out of band frequencies via CPS
Awesome, thanks so much! I can confirm that the codeplug from the GD77 can be read by the CPS correctly now, and that the CPS can set frequencies that it couldn't before.
Minor FYI: the title of that post says June 19th, when I'd think you meant the 29th.
