Possible bricked GD77...help needed.
Re: Possible bricked GD77...help needed.
Thankyou Colin.
I have been trying to program it as it is but its not easy on the basic GD77 ..I will try yours and see what happens.. At least I know the RF side of it still works OK on FM and DMR.
There is someone in Bournemouth with a G4E that I have heard but not the one you mentioned...
Many thanks for your help

I have now updated my copy of the OpenGD77 User guide to reflect the new method of updating firmware. https://github.com/g4eml/OpenGD77_UserG ... r_Guide.md
I have submitted this to Roger for inclusion in the official version. https://github.com/LibreDMR/OpenGD77_Us ... r_Guide.md
the only thing I have noticed with your new user guide is the the position of the Select Firmware and Firmware Instructions buttons do not match the positions in the 10.6.21 version of the CPS which as far as I know is the latest available to download from the web-site.

Hi Colin..
I have loaded the CPS version D2021.05.31.01 on to my PC...but when I try to load the firmware via the firmware loader, when I select my radio and then select a file and update, another dialog box comes up saying, The current configuration will flash an FM only firmware and it wants me to install firmware version 4.3.6 to enable DMR mode, but the instructions on the maim page tells me NOT to install that version of firmware.. What do I do please ??

Hi,
Also, as mentionned in the previous post, the user manual as been updated regarding the firmware installation procedure here
Never, I mean, never try to flash official SGL file.
If you read the user manual (or click on the "Firmware Installation Instructions" button in the firmware loader window, link), it's all about unzipping the manufacturer archive, not installing.
Cheers.

Re: Possible bricked GD77...help needed.
Les,
You need to have the official 4.3.6 firmware on your computer and let the CPS know where it is by clicking the ‘Select Firmware v4.3.6’ button. This does not upload anything to the radio.
Having done this you will then be able to upload the OpenGD77 firmware with DMR mode.
You do not (and should never) need to upload the v4.3.6 firmware to the radio.

Re: Possible bricked GD77...help needed.
It does say I need to download version 4.3.6 to enable me to program DMR as it will only allow me to program FM channels ????
Re: Possible bricked GD77...help needed.
Les, you are not reading (or understanding) the instructions correctly. You need to click the “firmware installation instructions” button and follow them step by step.
Yes, you need to download the v4.3.6 firmware onto your computer but you do not (and must not!) load that firmware into your radio.
The CPS extracts the DMR code from the v4.3.6 firmware and adds it to the OpenGD77 firmware to allow it to work on DMR.
