User Guide online again etc
User Guide online again etc
Guys
FYI.
AFIK there are no license problems preventing me re-publishing the User Guide, still under the GPL license.
So I have made a new repository just for the User Guide
https://github.com/LibreDMR/OpenGD77_UserGuide
Also.
I have checked the Github, terms and conditions, and its unclear whether I will be able to put the CPS source code back on Github, because the Acceptable Use policy states...
"Under no circumstances will Users upload, post, host, execute, or transmit any Content to any repositories that:"
...
...
"infringes any proprietary right of any party, including patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, right of publicity, or other right."
The CPS is based on a decompilation of the official CPS, and hence I don't have copyright on the decompiled files. I only have copyight on the new OpenGD77 files which I added..
The same applies to the data sheets.
The Tools that were also part of the old OpenGD77 repo, were also not specifically marked as GPL, even though they were within the OpenGD77 repository which had the GPL license applied globally.
So I will need to republish any necessary Tools into a separate repository, probably under an extended BSD 3 Clause license, which can have extra clauses to prohibit commercial use completely.

Re: User Guide online again etc
thank you
Re: User Guide online again etc
Bonjour et merci
Re: User Guide online again etc
The user guide has been updated
View online: https://github.com/LibreDMR/OpenGD77_Us ... r_Guide.md
PDF version: https://github.com/LibreDMR/OpenGD77_Us ... _Guide.pdf
There may be spelling mistakes and typos in the updated text, as I have to edit it in a plain text editor with no spell checking

Re: User Guide online again etc
nothing about spectrum sweep , or i'm blind ?
Re: User Guide online again etc
Arrrg. The User Guide was so out of date I had to add loads of things but I forgot to add the spectrum sweep.
I'll write some text now.
BTW.
The guide includes a small feature that is not actually released yet, but you probably didn't notice that
Re: User Guide online again etc
Thank you for maintaining the user guide, even though I'm blind and miss things in it sometimes It's an excellent guide, especially on OpenGD77 that does a lot of function overload on buttons.
Re: User Guide online again etc
I've now added the section for the VFO Spectrum / Sweep scan
Its taken about 4 or 5 hours over several days to bring the User Guide up to date, because I don't think it had been updated for at least 6 months.
Even generating the PDF is a bit of a pain, because the only way to get a decent PDF is to print from the github page, but I have to manally strip out all the github headers and footers.
Its a shame github does not way to just view the core part of the page so it can be printed, but AFIK it doesn't have that feature
There may still be other omissions and also typo's and spelling mistakes.
